HERMES - Paris - Vintage 1969 - Ascot 1831 - La Ronde des Jockeys - Designed by Francoise de la Perriere who has designed other Hermes. The edges are all hand rolled and hand stitched. The equestrian theme is a favorite and repeated again and again in Hermes scarfs.
In addition to 12 beautifully illustrated horses and jockeys wearing colorful racing silks at the 1831 Ascot racecourse, the corners all have the same overlapping horseshoes. The first race at Ascot took place in 1711 and this "Ring of Jockeys" or "Circle of Jockeys" is a tribute to the rich history of the famous English racecourse. The background color is a deep rich cream and green, the horses are in shades of taupe and brown with gold along the border and black in the corners.
It's a wonderful scarf to wear especially if you love horses and horse-racing or even if you don't. It is the epitome of classic Hermes equestrian designs.
